HELP - wordpress & phpbb integration

Post by adrian »

I know itll be something stupid but ive installed phpbb and wordpress. Ive installed the plugin. Whatever i do when i log in to wordpress i still have to log in to phpbb separately.

Ive got a user on the wordpress site and the phpbb site that have the same username, password and email address. Ive checked they are both there etc and its fine, but i just cant get the linked log in to work

Any ideas?

(its on a test site at the moment - 680mo.apbcomputerservices.co.uk & 680mo.apbcomputerservices.co.uk/forum32 )

Why should be stupid to install a forum and a wordpress? It is cool because you have the power of both into a community.
Many professional sites own a forum for several utilities and as archive of knowledge. That's not possible into socials, more good for mental disordered.
And remember: this plugin add nothing into phpBB, nor into wordpress (except, normally 5, db rows into wp_option table, totally cleaned up when plugin uninstalled. This is it). This plugin also, change nothing into wordpress and phpbb and you can unlink anytime, without worry about nothing (except that may WP users will have to reset their pass to login). The same goes for the phpBB extension if using it, that do not add nothing in effect in phpBB. Nor a single row into db.

Said that about socials, that's just my stupid opinion

About your question: the connection button into plugin admin is Green? I assume yes, but i also guess that so you do not have correctly setup the domain cookie setting into phpBB?

So, i've take a look into your site.
What happen is that, phpBB do not release a cookie when you visit it.
While if you had setup as procedure say, may you had not fall into this problem.
I assume that you DO NOT have follow this step:
Then into phpBB ACP under option Security settings:
Option: Allow “Remember Me” logins
set to: YES
Your phpBB do not release a cookie to a visitor (i checked it on my browser). It mean that these settings are as described above.

This integration work by cookie, and if phpBB DO NOT have this setting to YES, cookies into phpBB are NOT released because not used, it will use only live sessions. Also please,
setup also "Remember Me" login key expiration length (in days):
may to 365. Maybe you have this setting wrong, check it and setup as 30 or 365 or what you like.
Then try out, all should be resolved.
