Social Logins

Post by DjPorkchop73 »

I have not found a post asking this ( I might have overlooked) butis it possible to use the phpBB Extension called Social Logins?

I am guessing Not possible due to email address issues. Have you ever looked in to this possibility? It would increase registration rates drastically ( for some website more so than others).

Here is an example of such a plugin I am referring to but not necessarily the only one: https://docs.oneall.com/plugins/guide/s ... phpbb/3.1/

Take care and have a fantastic day!

Hello! To you too!
Finishing to fix today the transfer process and check users, specifically
List WordPress users that not exists in phpBB: delete WordPress users that not exists in phpBB
that is not working fine.
Some other issue for the wp network MUMS mode, allowing more characters, with default regexp -0-9A-Za-z _.@ and not only 0-9A-Za-z and more minor fixes.

About this you report, there is a sticky old post:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1051
but it is about Google oauth login and iFrame

There should be no problem on adding the extension in phpBB, let users register in phpBB, that then via a way or another add in wordpress, when they login or as logged will visits wp side: or at mean time, with the iframe solution above, that i will review asap and that should fit any needs (but should work fine with little changes for any need).
Or with a redirect in wp, if not running iframe mode, that will add the user so in wp also, as soon the registration process in phpBB complete.

You mean with iframe?

My apologies for taking a while to reply. I had health issues.

I was really meaning in general if the extension would work but in reality, I am wondering if it will work with iFrame integration wonderfully. I did see that post once before and embarrassingly enough I had forgot about it.

I know no days so many people would rather just register / login with their social logins instead of taking the time to go through the whole registration process all over again, etc. Through the years of running websites and being an admin on many we find internet people want things fast and easy. Less clicks is better I guess. My mother called that being lazy

Hello, hope all ok for you now

It is very important of course, so since over the v6 code and updating page-forum that is coming soon, i will take a look into what posted time ago, may doing things in better way or simpler, and adding a more detailed and easy howto. The ext you provided above works fine into last phpBB? I will take a fast test

Hello again. I am doing ok now, Thanks I appreciate it.

I am not sure if it did (work properly) or not. It was recommended to me to try it out and see if ti would serve the purpose. I was going to give it a try on a test install of just a phpbb3 by itself at first and see. I was reading on the Github and there are a few issues with it and I ma not so sure it is being addressed any more sadly enough. So many good extensions get abandoned.
